Cookie Palooza At SHJH

The Spring Hill Junior High Library recently hosted the second annual Cookie Palooza! The contest featured delicious homemade cookies made by students in sixth through eighth grades. A panel of judges rated the cookies on taste, texture, visual appeal and overall impression.

The 13 entries included a variety of flavors such as Strawberry Shortcake, White Chocolate Raspberry, Six Layer Bar Cookies and even some vegan cookies called Frog Matcha Sugar Cookies, just to name a few.

“By participating in Cookie Palooza the students are researching non-fiction books – many of which can be found in the library, working together with parents to make sure that they are following the correct steps, honing their math by using correct measurements, and building their sense of community by comparing their cookies with other students and learning from their friends,” said Librarian Jayne Pleasant. “The kids that participate are excited to share their cookies and are alway anxious to learn which cookies are deemed the best for this year. I love to see their genuine smiles when they turn their cookies in on the day of competition.”
