The Spring Hill Primary Fabulous Friday tradition returned today for the first time in more than a year.
Fabulous Friday was started in the early 2000s. The celebration experience was originally centered on presenting big ideas for the campus regarding character education. “Since then the event has evolved to be a pep rally of sorts,” said Amy Doron, Primary Student Services Coordinator. From their signature "Good Morning" song and dance to cheering on classmates for memorizing sight words to reciting the pledges; Spring Hill Primary's Fabulous Friday is a treasured experience.
"Fabulous Friday is a weekly celebration of character, curriculum and community where we recognize students for their academic and behavioral accomplishments," explained Deanna Turner, Spring Hill Primary Principal.
Previously the entire campus met each Friday morning to celebrate as well as carry out usual morning greetings and announcements. Last year the weekly Friday fun was postponed until now. Moving forward, the campus will celebrate each week by grade level.
When planning Fabulous Friday, the leadership team takes into consideration the age of the students on campus and tailors the celebration to meet their attention span. The result is a combination of dancing, singing, cheering and encouraging each other throughout the time spent together. "We coordinate with the other campus activities like Band, Athletics, and more to have older students visit and provide strong role models and a sense of pride for being a Spring Hill Panther," said Lesley Jaap, Primary Assistant Principal.
Parents are invited to join in the celebration on the week their student's grade level is participating. First Grade Fabulous Friday will be held the first Friday of the month; Second Grade Fabulous Friday will be held the second Friday of the month, and Kindergarten and Pre-K will be held the third Friday of the month.
